Day of the Dead Miscellaneous
Description: New York Premier Ticket
Information: "Between April-May of 1985 I responded to a radio promotion that was being heard on the Long Island, New York station WBAB. Listeners were offered a free ticket to the world premiere of George A. Romero's Day of the Dead, if they appeared at a specific mall on a certain date. The world premiere (which was conducted by United Film Distribution Company) was held June 30th, 1985 at the UA HICKSVILLE theatre located on East Marie street, in Hicksville Long Island. It was a one night event, and if you dressed as a 'zombie' and proceeded to a local bar down the street after the film, you would receive a white tyvek jacket [Also see clothing section] with a Day of the Dead logo on the breast and the words 'I was a zombie at a screening of Day Of The Dead'. This world premiere showing is the FIRST actual public release of the movie, and predates all other known U.S. release dates (as of 5/2017) by 3 days." - David Brudie
